Nikko Bay
Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nikko Bay is home to some of the most diverse coral reefs on planet earth. Surrounded by the cathedral-like limestone walls, Nikko’s coral reefs have been spared the ravages of surf, surge, and storm damage for millennia. Delicate baskets & colorful brain corals light up the shallows with their fluorescent glow.
Slipping into the forest you’ll find an equally diverse assemblage of trees, ferns, and fragrant flowers. The world famous Avatar tree is a visual spectacle and a climber’s paradise as the lattice-like network of entangled roots has formed a perfect cylinder where once stood a host tree.
Accessible only via kayak marine caves, tunnels, and archways create a paddler’s delight. Nikko’s protected bay insures calm water paddling under any climactic condition.
And for history enthusiasts, Nikko Bay also hides WWII bunkers, encampments, and forgotten aircraft. Our naturalist guides bring history to life in the shadows of this epic Pacific Theater battle ground.
